Historic Pub Tour

Our Historic Pub tour will take you back in time to experience the gold rush era of Central Otago. On the tour, you will visit three pubs in the Wanaka region: Cardrona Hotel, Gibbston Tavern and Luggate Hotel. Our first stop is Cardrona Hotel, one of NZ’s oldest hotels built in 1863. Its icon façade is famous in NZ for advertising the great southern beer – Speights. The next stop is the Gibbston Tavern, originally built in the 1860s. Sadly, the tavern burned down in 1912 and was not rebuilt until 2012. Located on the original site its’ unique building is made from shipping containers adorned with historic memorabilia. Our final stop is the Luggate Hotel established in 1867. It is truly a local pub with high country hospitality at its best. Make sure you check out the handles on the beer taps!
